Double Amputee Tops Everest!

Published by Marco Gizmo on May 18th, 2006 | Tagged Sub Continent, Travel

Hiking to the top of Everest is possibly the ultimate travel experience.

Making it to the top when you are a double amputee using prosthetic legs to support yourself makes it pretty close to amazing.

That’s exactly what New Zealand climber, Mark Inglis has done!

Inglis lost both legs in a climbing accident several years ago, but never considered giving up the sport of climbing.

After winning praise from mountaineers around the world and the New Zealand Prime Minister, Helen Clark, it remains to be seen what Inglis’ next challenge will be.

We suspect it may be a marathon, which luckily comes with a much smaller price tag than the $64,000 that is required in fees for an attempt on the summit of Everest.

Congratulations to Mark Inglis for an absolutely amazing feat.
